Myanmar's
state television says the death toll in the
devastating cyclone has jumped to 28,458.
The number of missing now stands at 33,416.
The death toll could eventually top 100,000
as conditions worsen.
Our associate Pastor K wrote to us saying,
"Please pray for us. Our church roof has been damaged 30%, my
house 25%, girls orphanage 50%. Please help us if you can."
We've already sent some help. But much more is
needed for this catastrophic event. Please prayerfully consider
helping our brothers and sisters in need.
Unlike the Western countries, tools
used in Asia's most unreached are simple, cost effective yet
highly effective. A small investment such as a bicycle can
improve a local worker's effectiveness two or three times.
It is going take small and large resources to take Jesus to the
ends of the earth. With your generous prayers, support and
involvement, we can reach thousands of souls on the mission
field. Will you consider helping us today?
Church Planting:
Jesus said, "I will build my Church
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18).
As more and more people come to the saving knowledge of Jesus each day, we
make it a priority to place every believer in a local church. We have planted over
1500 churches. Our goal is to plant 4000 churches or more by the year 2008,
before Olympics in Beijing. Due to the restrictions often imposed
on the Christians, believers meet in homes, parks, caves and other
unconventional places.
We train laborers to go to the
unreached people where the name of Christ has never been preached. The
training is geared specifically toward those who are called to church
planting ministry. So far we have trained 4500 workers. Our goal is
to pour 4,000 new gospel workers into the Harvest field by 2008.
There are hundreds of students who want to enlist for the training but
we're limited on space and resources. The investment of God's Word
into these young people will bring a lifetime of fruitfulness.
One of the greatest needs of the
Asian Church is basic knowledge of the Bible. We believe that every
believer is to do the work of the ministry. Regular conferences taught by
local and international ministers provide intensive training for church
members. With this vision, we conduct dozens of small and large
conferences every year. Church members and leaders come from remote
regions to get refreshed in the Word of God. Sometimes they walk
for up to five days just to get to the conference.
In most Asian countries, many of the
churches are young and newly established. They have very basic needs for
supporting pastors and evangelists on a monthly basis. We also provide
them with gospel tools such as Bibles, teaching materials, tracts, song
books, tapes and tape players. Bicycles, motor bikes and vans speed up the
mobility of evangelists and gospel teams. There is also a great need of
funds for simple church buildings.
The Word of God repeatedly tells us
to care for the poor and needy. We have been providing for underprivileged
and orphan children in India, Nepal, Thailand, China and Ukraine. Our goal is to assist the local
churches to care for the practical needs of the poor along with their
spiritual needs.
Under this project, we're also
supplying disaster relief, digging wells for fresh drinking water,
providing adult literacy classes (to be able to read the Bible) etc.
Praise and
Worship Teams:
Praise and Worship is a tremendous
experience for most believers in Asia. It is the most intimate time
between them and God. It is also a time to release the oppression,
hardship and insecurity many of them experience on a daily basis.
Our Praise and Worship Teams are instrumental in teaching the believers on
the subject. Every week these teams go around local churches to
"bring heaven down to earth". In the presence of God, many are
healed and delivered from demonic oppressions.
Self Supporting
Projects:
We believe that we have an
obligation to train the locals to bring their tithes and offerings to the
work of God. Most Asian believers and churches are poor in
natural resources. Our self supporting projects such as, batik,
catering, carpentry, tailoring etc. create employment for the church
members. This is often the only way we can provide jobs for the
believers (as they become untouchables after they become Christians and
some are kicked out of their homes) and also support the local church.
Jesus Film
Ministry:
About 60% of Asia is still
illiterate. Anything visual is easier to understand and creates long
lasting impressions. When the people see and hear Jesus talking in
their own language (and in some versions He looks like them) Christianity
is not perceived as a "foreign religion." This is a great tool to
impact the multitudes with the Gospel.
