What is “missions”?

Missions, is bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who don't know Him as their Lord and Savior. It knows no limits in territory, people, places, or methods used to reach those who are lost. God’s desire is that none should perish.

God's call to each individual is unique and specific to them. God's will is for each individual to Love God and Love People, that's the 2 greatest of commandments as seen by Mathew 22:36-40. Now this love thing is expressed directly through the Great Commission, found in Matthew 28:18-20: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age."  God's command, to love Him and love others, drives us towards His commission to GO, make disciples, baptize, and teach, which is enabled by the Holy Spirit.

Why do we go on mission trips?

To reach the lost for Jesus and to train participants how to hear God's voice and to have a heart for the lost.  We are not only trying to reach this generation of lost people, but trying to disciple other Christians, especially youth, to reach the lost until Christ returns.

We go, plan, organize, implement, and lead mission trips as a response to Gods will for us. How each individual lives their life is a response to answering Gods call and living out His will.

MaryAnn’s Testimony

It was an honor and privilege to make a second trip into China with The Sowers Ministry in April.  At some of the meetings, there were people standing outside, looking in through the windows and doors. One house church could not fit any more people in the building; the teachers had to wait in another room for their turn to teach. People were sitting on the smallest stools, literally with their knees just barely touching the back of the person in front of them.  We really were packed into the room like sardines.  There was such a reverence for the Word of God. When someone read the Scripture out loud, they would stand and gracefully sit back down again. Some meetings took 2 hours to travel to, meetings would last 3 to 4 hours.

The day we left Beijing it was my birthday.  I wanted to have communion in Tiananmen Square, so one of the pastors arranged for us to do so. I knew that God would protect us from harm, and it was a prophetic thing that we did. Some day my brothers and sisters in China will be able to do this openly. To proclaim Christ crucified publicly for all to see.
