The Sowers Ministry is a nonprofit organization involved in missions, evangelism, training and church planting. We are a team of dedicated men and women from Asia, North America and Europe, who are committed to work with the Church in order to preach Christ where His name is unknown, proclaim the Gospel to people who have never heard, and plant local churches. We make a point of searching out, cultivating and respecting national and local leadership in the nations where we work, and emphasize indigenous Gospel work. In addition, we cultivate international cooperation and encourage partnerships between churches in Asia and around the world that bring about total mobilization of people, prayer, and finances.
Neil Anderson and his three brothers were born in India. When they were very young, their mother died suddenly and their father, who was unable to care for his sons, brought them to a Methodist orphanage. Neil grew up and earned a degree in science before becoming a highly successful businessman. In 1983 he had an encounter with the Jesus Christ and it changed his life. Neil found a teaching job in the tiny Kingdom of Nepal and almost immediately began an outreach to the children. "Saturday School" (Saturday is the weekly day off in Nepal) was organized and he soon had 70 children attending on a regular basis. Then their parents and siblings began to show up to the meetings, and people of all ages got saved. People caught on to the vision and Neil and his brothers decided to make their ministry available to the local churches. They invited pastors and leaders from Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, to a prayer breakfast and explained their intention to serve the Body of Christ. Shortly afterwards, “The Sowers Ministry” was officially established in 1986. The name was chosen because of the power in the seed of the Gospel. As the ministry continued to expand, a base in Asia was needed, and the Lord opened the door for the brothers to move the headquarters to Hong Kong in 1989. They adopted Revival Christian Church as their home church. In the early 1990s, Neil received his ordination from Lakewood Church under the late Pastor John Osteen in Houston, Texas, USA. Today, The Sowers Ministry is based in Houston, Texas, with offices in Germany and Hong Kong.
